Martin Baggs - Thames Water
Having personally completed the Asian Cultural Awareness training organised by
Noble Khan as part of our ongoing training programme within Thames Water.
Thames Water is a major utility providing services to 14 million people across
London dealing with a wide range of communities and with employees and suppliers
from all parts of the world. For this reason we actively encourage and
promote a programme of Cultural Awareness Training for a range of our staff.
I am a strong believer in leading by example and in doing so took part in a
course facilitated by Sadi Khan earlier this year.
I must admit that within the first few minutes of the course I was embarressed
to realise how little I really knew about Asian Culture. I was equally
suprised to realise how much knowledge and appreciation I had gained through the
course of one day. The format of the course and the learning techniques
that are used are extremely powerful and provide a meaningful and lasting
impact.
But more importantly I learnt things that I never knew before and it has made me
think from both personal and business viewpoints in how we deal with our
employees, our customers and our stakeholders. The relevance is far
greater that I initially considered - from our recruiting processes and our
facilities for staff through to conducting business negotiations and dealing
with clients.
I would certainly recommend this course, and in particular Sadi and Noble Khan to
other organisations.
It was also really good fun!
